Home Solar Power Kits
We all know that we need to start using alternative energy sources and home solar power kits may be the perfect, inexpensive solution to our problems. The rising cost of electricity has triggered a demand for alternative renewable sources of energy. We are seeing this trend continue to rise as the demand for energy increases exponentially with the worlds rising population. We are now at a time in our society where homeowners must not only realize and understand the importance of converting to renewable energy but they must take action as well. One of the primary sources, many believe the best, is solar power.

Home solar power kits are quickly becoming one of the most popular, practical and cost effective options available today. Before do it yourself (diy) solar power kits began popping up on the market if you wanted to take advantage of solar power you had to have professionals come out and set a system up for you and the average cost for just a single solar panel was up to $4000. Plus then you were forced to pay a huge installation cost.

What people don’t realize and the electric company and professional solar companies don’t want you to know is that with the recent modern advancements we’ve seen in the solar and solar panel industry there is absolutely no reason at all why you need to spend so much. There are now other more affordable options. Buying your own kits and guides will allow you to build your own and save a lot of money, thousands of dollars in fact.

Some say you can build a solar panel yourself (keep in mind it’s not very difficult with the right instructions) for as little as $150.00 but from personal experience I’d say it’s more around $200.00. But still, call up a solar panel company and ask them how much they charge for solar panels not to mention installation.

All good home solar power kits come with easy to follow instructions on installing the whole system yourself. If you have the basic tools you’ll be able to do it, trust me it’s not rocket science. You, or you and your friends, or you and your neighbor(s), which is what I did with my neighbors we all pitched in for each other, will be able to build and install the whole system. It’ll take some work but the savings you’ll get on your electricity bill for years to come and the increase in the value of your home will be more than worth it.

The cost of residential solar power has come way down and is within reach of most homeowners today. With the use of home solar power kits to make your own solar panels for your home not only do you save on your monthly electricity bill, any excess power created by your solar panels that you don’t use, you sell back into the main electricity grid. Your electric company is mandated by law to purchase it from you. So, not only is solar power great for the environment it is also good for your wallet. Once you get a kit and learn what materials you’ll need to do everything from scratch. Then go down to your local hardware store and you’ll be surprised at just how cheap you can build a complete home solar power system.

The solar power cells themselves are the most important components that you’ll. You can buy these from a number of places on the Internet and you can even buy broken ones from eBay and various other sites which you may well be able to repair. (The kits will teach you all about this)

Home Solar Power Kits On The Market

There are several home solar power kits available on the market. They all contain the basic concepts, however I’ve noticed some are very detailed and really walk you step by step through each process plus have videos while other kits send you a cheap “how to” pdf which only outline the basics and is hard to follow unless you are a carpenter or engineer.

The prices for all the programs are relatively the same, around $50.00, the one I personally used and found to be the easiest to follow is called Energy2Green. You can get more information on their website at www.energy2green.com.

Energy2Green home solar power kits include step-by-step and easy to read instructions, detailed schematics showing you precisely how to build your solar panels (generates up to 200-watts each) including the precise measurements you need for optimum performance. It also comes with a 60 minute step-by-step DVD on making high quality solar panels which I found very helpful. There’s a lot more that comes with their solar power kits, including a complete section on building a windmill. I’ve heard of quite a few people doing it but living in the suburbs of California my house sits on a 1/4 acre so a windmill is not something I’ve tried myself.

I hope you decide to take the plunge and go solar, I think it’s really worth it both financially and for our impact on our environment. We all need to take the initiative ourselves and start moving towards alternative energies.
